Jared and Beth Scheirer should have never met. They grew up nearly 800 miles apart, Beth in Normal, IL and Jared in Berwick, PA.
But God had a plan.
He brought them together in St. Petersburg, FL through an AmeriCorps program called Athletes in Service to America. In this program, they spent time tutoring, mentoring, and coaching youth. Their time in St. Pete helped them learn what is possible when you answer the call to serve others.
Eventually, it was time to move from St. Petersburg and a friend helped Jared find a job on a tomato farm near Wilmington, NC. Beth moved too and was led to a position supporting students to succeed on their path to graduation at a public high school. They have grown and stayed faithful in these positions for 12 years.
Wilmington proved to be where God wanted them to learn and develop. Their relationship united before God in marriage in 2008. The Scheirer family grew in 2011 by welcoming Emmett Jonathan and again in 2014 by welcoming Watson Charles. The best decision of their lives was made by giving them to Christ and getting baptized in 2013. The call to full time ministry came to Jared in 2015 while on a mission trip to Nicaragua and since then they have been moving forward by taking small, consistent steps of faith. In July 2018, the Scheirer family will head to Africa on a mission to see the worship of Jesus Christ spread across the continent of Africa – through individual lives fully committed to him and collectively through Christ-centered church communities.
Since the beginning of Jared and Beth, it has been an adventure. They look forward to what God has in store for their family next!
